In 1981, two brothers who grew up on a farm in rural Ohio started RK HydroVac.
They started out simple – working out of their family’s barn– selling their services to local roofing contractors, using the traditional method of removing rock from flat roofs (shovels & wheelbarrows).
As they grew, they developed equipment, techniques, and technologies to build increased efficiency and safety for their customers.
These brothers worked hard to grow the business. They understood the importance of personal connection. They created strong relationships with their customers and provided a family environment for their workforce.
RK HydroVac continued expanding the business, opening regional offices in Charlotte NC (1983), Pittston, PA (1990) and various satellite offices (1999-present) to provide the best service and value for customers. These regional offices were started and run by employees who became co-owners and continued the vision for the company by continually developing equipment, techniques, and building the right team of employees.
By 2019, the brothers had decided that it was time to step away from the company and pursue other ventures. Rather than selling to outside buyers who may not have shared the company’s deeply rooted values of respect, camaraderie, and teamwork, they chose a path that would preserve RK HydroVac’s culture while positioning the company for long-term growth.
In the years that followed, RK HydroVac continued to evolve, strengthening its operations, expanding its capabilities, and investing in its people and equipment to better serve customers across the country.
Today, RK HydroVac remains committed to the same core principles it was built on—hard work, accountability, and delivering high-quality results—while continuing to grow as a leading provider of roof vacuuming and industrial cleaning services.
