Project Overview:
The Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, KY has been hosting NASCAR and ARCA racing events on its 1.5 mile track for over a decade. Over 360 squares (36,000 sq. ft.) of ballast needed to be removed from a single-ply EPDM roof, and the contractors knew this was not a job to try to do by hand.
Project Challenge:
This structure was particularly cumbersome as there were dozens of pieces of roof top equipment that needed to be navigated on two separate roofs measuring 37’ x 350’. Moreover, there were very limited options where RK could effectively ‘stage,’ or set up.
RK Process:
RK used specialized equipment to access all the work areas, including over 400’ of vacuum line, which allowed the project to be completed quickly.
End Result:
In fact, having such specialized equipment not only allowed RK to remove rock from hundreds of feet away, but also minimized the labor required for the job which in turn created a safer and cleaner worksite. The project ran smoothly and was completed in less than three days.
